Marnaus prior to Gehenna

Early History

Marnaus was born in 832 in Milthuvis. The goblin vampire lord Obrord ruled this area at the time. In his youth he helped clear the forest of the remainder of Obrord’s realm. After this he traveled and adventured in Twelves Towers, then went south for four years. After this he journeyed to Encyclon, even getting to Northern Pompiers. He came to Hathbell with followers from the core lands.

Marnaus came to power in 864, for in 863, after the dragon attack, the Kolandian king Crasseris I was killed. Marnaus, an Encyclonian with a Kanosian mother from Milthuvis, came in to bring Hathbell into a new era. This new Crasseris, from Gonrave, claims to be the dead king’s son from the princess, Idronul, at Hathbell. Crasseris has supporters and has gone to Twelve Towers.

Marnaus has distant, humble relatives in Encyclon. His mother’s family is from Milthuvis, where he has some support. His sister, Athia, lost her husband in battle, but she and her son Vantion have lived secretly at Morgis for some time, this being Marnaus’ attempt to keep them away from political harm. Marnaus’ sword was made for him by the wizard Xomenodes during his years in Encyclon, for whom he provided many quests, including the red dragon blood which was used in the craft of his sword. The sword is of average length for a bastard sword, but it is slightly thinner for a blade of its kind. A swirling, Arabesque red decoration leads up through the length of the blade, a blade which is polished and lightly etched with magical elf runes along both blades and the center. Otherwise the blade is of shining steel. The hilt itself is a representation of the claw of a red dragon, wrapped artfully in golden wire, holding a golden globe engraved with black runes. Marnaus’ plate mail bears no runes. His shield is shining steel lightly etched with a large flying griffon on its front, with a rim of silver. His ring holds a red ruby and is made of pure gold.

Marnaus has some activity in the war with Black Stone. He was forced to remain in Hathbell due to many internal problems, but he did lead a company in the battle for the battle in the Westfallow Forest which saved his home, Milthuvis.

Description

Lord Marnaus is a powerful, intimidating man, and is one of the most powerful warriors of the Furnorkanasos. He keeps a neat, brown beard and lengthening, straight brown hair. He has brown, contemplative eyes.

Personality

Marnaus is typically calm on the surface while a turmoil of ideas and desires swirl in his mind. He is cunning, having an adept mind for strategy. He understands the particulars of politics and possess an etiquette that match his skill as a fighter. Marnaus is quick to judge, and often assumes he is in the right and that the information he has is accurate. His overconfidence reveals itself in his underestimating his enemies. His pleasant demeanor has faded slightly since his imprisonment in Gehenna. His ambitious and secretive nature make him less than 100% trustworthy.
