Kharn
Kharn is a powerful mul slave gladiator owned by the Tyrian senator Lord Eramor of House Kantane.
Severely weakened by a great raid of desert bandits on House Kantane lands, Lord Eramor and his small private army have been enrolled into the King's First Guard Legion, Steel Legion, under Dragon Cohort, commanded by fearsome templar-tribune Karthen. Kharn has accompanied his master on this campaign as a bodyguard and elite compliment to the House Kantane army. Surviving elven ambushes, the attack of powerful air spirits, capture and escape from rogue Tyrian nobles, Kharn recently nearly killed the enemy commander, a powerful air cleric, and wounded him severely. For this he has been saluted by the tribune, and increased the standing of his noble army. Marching ever further into the Dragon's Swathe, Kharn is beset by the rigors of the desert, and a foot soldier in the tribune's unyielding pursuit of the bandit army and its air cleric.

Background
Kharn is the son of Eskaya, a dwarven slave-woman belonging to the Tyrian psionic academy called the School of Thought. Kharn's father, he later learned, is the templar Xesteres, who in years passed inflicted an abusive sexual relationship with Eskaya. A product of rape, Kharn was conceived by these two parents, and shares this fate with his mul brother Gerstahd. Kharn possesses a full dwarf half-brother named Altair. Raised by Xesteres after the templar had murdered their mother's husband, Altair was groomed for the templary, in which he now serves.
In early youth, the School of Thought sold Kharn and his brother to House Khantane, where he and his brother were to be trained and likely resold as finished gladiators when the time came. The majority of Kharn's gladiatorial training was given by the cruel taskmaster Gastin, as well as by the occasional lessons from the former arena champion Vorestes.
Current Military of House Kantane
Organized as a battalion, the House Kantane army has suffered severe losses in the current campaign. Lord Kantane personally accompanies his army.
Ideally comprised of slave-soldiers who were raised from extreme youth by the officers, and trained by the senior soldiers and officers. Nearly all of House Kantane’s common soldiers share this background. House Kantane prefers to free its well-performing soldiers, usually at least after twenty years of membership in one of the companies (beginning at around age 18 usually). However, this is not always the case. House Kantane has no chiefs, but promotion to color sergeant and even centurion is possible. The officers are usually professional soldiers of free or equestrian background, or are relations to the senatorial family, or of the family itself. The senator of course reserves the right to command his force personally. From time to time, templars come to train and indoctrinate noble family armies, and House Kantane is no exception.
