Kargal Oath
The Kargal Oath was first given at Manifold
"By the Power of All-Holy Mandador, and the Voice and the Spirit, and by the will of Yathamian and the prayers of all the saints of Dwarden, I swear unending war against Thagdion the Mad, Black King of Kernej, war against all his knights and priests and all their servants, and all his evil minions, his demons and his warriors and monsters amongst the dead. I swear unending hatred for his blasphemous cult, and unending hatred for the Abomination he worships, and will suffer none who follow him, nor believe him, nor serve him in any way, in my lands, amongst my kin or amongst my friends, upon pain of damnation and death. I swear unending allegiance to the Master-General, to his Seneschel, to the Masters of Horse and Foot, and to all Masters and Commanders appointed over me, and will serve them as I would serve my father, loyally, with unyielding faithfulness, into any peril, unto the death. I swear obedience to the Rule of St. Karant, and will live a holy life, so that Mandador may bless my worthy cause with righteous power and victory, and so that He may keep the poison of evil from staining my soul. To this holy war I pledge my faith, my honor, my body, my woman and my kin and all my kalnistry, and all their lands and beasts, their men-at-arms and servants, their wizards and treasures, and all that I and my children will keep and own, rule and till, to the end of time, until the evil of this land be cleansed and destroyed forever...
Second Draft: "By the Sacred Shield of Dwarden, by the Holy Avenging Sword that protects it, by the awful authority of St. Yathamian the Legate who blessed it, and by the All-Mighty Power of Mandador Most High, and the Voice, and the Spirit, and all the Saints of Dwarden, I, by this sacred fire of vigil, do swear unending war against Thagdion the Mad, the Black Crown of Kernej, war against all his knights, his priests and all their servants, and all his evil minions, his demons, and all his warriors and monsters amongst the dead. I swear unending hatred for his blasphemous cult, and hatred for the Abomination he worships, and will suffer none who follow him, nor believe him, nor serve him in any way, in my lands, amongst my friends, or amongst my kin, or upon any stone of Dwarden land, upon pain of death and damnation in the blazing fires and frigid blackness of the Hells. To fight them with all my might and craft and skill, I declare allegiance to my brother knights-palatine in a blessed Order of Dwarden, to which I dedicate my land and my life. I swear unending allegiance to the Master-General of the blessed Order, to his Seneschel, to the Masters of Horse and Foot, and to all Masters and Commanders appointed over me, and will serve them as I would serve my father, loyally, with unyielding faithfullness, into any peril, unto death, until Thagdion and all his evil be destroyed forever. I swear obedience to the Rule of St. Karant, and will live a holy life, so that Mandador may bless my worthy cause with terrible power and victory, and so that He may keep the poison of evil from corrupting my soul. To this holy war and to my palatine brothers-in-arms I pledge my faith, my honor, my body, my woman and all my kin and kalnistry, and all their lands and all their beasts, my men-at-arms and servants, my wizards, my treasures, and every crop and every stream and every place that I claim my own, and that my kalnistry will ever own, rule and till, to the end of time, until the evil of this land be cleansed and destroyed. To this I swear. I swear to fight beside my brothers in any land, to the heights of the North Gate, to the bounds of the Orekon Sea, to the fires of the Gallaradok, to the lair of the Nargad dragon, or the steppes of the Kald, or to ethers beyond the sky or deepest dark beneath the earth, wherever the Black Crown or his Abomination may be found, for I know no end to this sacred hate I bear, and will hate until my last breath. This I swear by my own blood, under the eyes of All-Seeing Mandador Most High, until victory or death is achieved."
