Physical Description

Short Description: A heavily scarred man, he has survived in the wilds on his own for quite some time. He smiles infrequently and laughs even less and seems unfamiliar with companionship of any kind. He does, however, seem to be a devout Mandadorian and performs and obey all rites expected of a follower of the faith. He is missing his left pinky finger from the first joint up, and can always be found with a book in his hand when idle.

Family

A patrilineal descendant of Lord Talenthar, first Lord Commander of Kalestrina. Hails from the clan of Arlen Talenthar, which has all but totally descended to the ranks of common villein. Son of Madral the Footman of the clan of Arlen-Talenthar, who married the daughter of the White Necromancer Salebrand, named Aylen.

Father: Madral the Footman

Selected as a page in his youth, Madral was a lesser scion of Arlen House. Although not selected to become a squire, his intelligence and diligence afforded him the opportunity to remain in service at the commandery into his majority as a footman, where he served for many years. Surviving military service, Madral eventually became Second Footman and assisted the seneschal in his administrative duties over the commandery lands. As an older man, Madral became enamored with the young daughter of the White Necromancer, and under the laws of Dwarden, involved himself in the contests for her when she reached her majority. Through guile Madral won, earning him the emnity of a man-at-arms whom he bested. Salebrand, the White Necromancer, gave to Madral a handsome dowry, and in time Madral won relaxed service to the commandery, spending his time instead upon his new lands and raising his children. Madral remained Second Footman, and served more in a military role as the danger of the passing years increased. In the siege of Kalestrina in the 860s, Madral was slain and then raised as a zombie, but was immediately after consumed by the fires of the commanding quasimancer in 865.

Mother: Aylen, Second Daughter of the White Necromancer

Aylen was not terribly beautiful, but was rather wan and thin. Her face was often stolid, and she had little humor. She did however possess her father's intelligence, and even some of his magic. She taught some of this magic to her most intelligent child, Sejanus.

Aylen was slain by death magic in 865 when she and a party of older women were caught unawares during a foraging sortie. She was raised a zombie and attacked Kalestrina. The ultimate fate of her body is unknown.

Relationships

Brother-Superior Dragen of St. Gandol's of the Hidden Falls: Early in his years supporting the Watch of Kandelane Valley, Sejanus met Dragon, the senior-most monk of St. Gandol's Monastery that was hidden there. Completing various tasks for Dragen, Sejanus eventually gained the old monk's trust, and thus he learned from him much of nature, and all manner of related craft. Dragen is fond of sparring with others regarding natural and magical lore, and has over the years lent books of magic and scrolls of wisdom to Sejanus. It is through Brother-Superior Dragen that Sejanus met the old gnome Bartschval.

Kortebern, Man-at-Arms of Kalestrina, Forester: An older and careful man-at-arms, Kortebern is well-known among the men and scant families east of Lathandry Creek

Social Standing: None

Religious Affiliation: Mandadorian

Militia Service

Militia Requirement: Quarterly muster

Primary Position: Man of the Watch

Alternate Position: Man of the 3rd Column led by Serjeant Mascaland, under the Banner of Korlen led by Serjeant Cerileaux the Rook of St. Albran’s, under the Band of Archers & Scouts led by Kortebern

Formally serving the commandery in the infantry as a youth and perhaps a likely candidate as a man-at-arms were it not for the personal disasters that befell him, Sejanus enjoys a certain distinction, and is recognized as "3rd man" of his band. Although Sejanus' primary duties fall under those required in his role in Valley Watch, Sejanus has been on many occasions mustered at the commandery proper for military service.

Sejanus' most recent major service was during the Battle of Fire and Water in 886 just outside of Kalestrina, which saw the army of the priory gathered to hold the river against a major undead army led by a lich, which was a victory for the Order.
